The building of the former Senmaya Tobacco Monopoly Office has been converted into a museum, and is a registered tangible cultural property of the country. We display materials related to leaf tobacco, lifestyle culture materials, and materials related to the history of Senmaya.

Ichinoseki City Designated Cultural Property “Former Numata Family Samurai Residence”

The former Numata family samurai residence is the former residence of the Numata family, who served as the chief retainer of the Ichinoseki clan in the late Edo period. It has a history of about 300 years and has survived the repeated floods of the Iwai River that flows nearby, without collapsing until today. In Ichinoseki City, the building has been restored and the environment has been improved since 2000, and this residence, which is one of the prefecture's best remains of a senior samurai family, has been open to the public since April 2003.

Sake Folk Culture Museum

Seki no Ichi Sake Brewery was named by Emperor Meiji's younger brother, Prince Kanin, who said, ``Make good sake that will please the people of the world.'' The ``Sake Folk Culture Museum'' inside is made up of valuable earthen storehouses that still retain traces of the time of its founding. The two-story wooden storehouse is the largest in Tohoku. Inside, some of the over 1,600 sake-making tools are on display. You can also see the brewer's room, which enshrines Matsuo Daimyojin, the god of sake, and materials related to the production of rice, which is essential for sake. In 2006, the ``Ichinoseki Literature Storehouse'' was opened to honor 12 writers associated with Ichinoseki.
