Tateyama Historical Park (Iwayado Castle Honmaru Ruins)

This is the site of the castle of a powerful family that ruled this area from ancient times. It is said to have been the site of a fortress built by Fujiwara no Tsuneakiyo and his son Kiyohira in the late Heian period. An octagonal hall building and Niseiin Temple (where Buddhist statues are preserved) were erected to commemorate the great deeds of the father and son, Tsuneakiyo and Kiyohira. Visitors can enjoy the seasonal scenery of cherry blossoms, hydrangeas, and maple trees. Niseiin Temple is usually closed. It is opened twice a year (May and August).

A hot spring for beautiful skin that soothes your mind and body while overlooking the scenery of Kurikoma Quasi-National Park and the Yakedishi Mountain Range.

Azalea of ​​Mount Kyozuka

Kyozukayama is said to have been Fujiwara Hidehira's sutra store in the old days, and at the top of the mountain there is a ``horseshoe stone'' where Minamoto Yoshitsune is said to have ridden his horse and made hoof prints. In addition, the view from the summit towards Hiraizumi and Maezawa is wonderful, with the Isawa alluvial fan spreading out from the Ou Mountains, the Shizui villages and countryside dotted there, and the Kitakami River that meanders slowly across the area. It is a famous place for azaleas that grow in clusters, and the best time to see them is late May.
