This is the season when salmon with eggs begin to return to the rivers along the Sanriku coast. The ``Miyako Salmon Half Marathon'' will be held in conjunction with this event. In addition to the half marathon, 5km, and 10km divisions, there is also a pairs marathon division. Every year, runners from all over the country gather to compete.
