Northern Iwate

The area includes Kuji City, known for being the filming site for the TV drama Amachan, the World Heritage Site of Goshono Ruins, and Ninohe City, the northern gateway to Iwate.
Buddhist temples like Tendaiji Temple and the intricate lacquerware of Joboji nuri tell us tales of history and culture. Meanwhile, grains from the inland regions and seafood from the coastal areas are certain to delight the palate.
The inland area is surrounded by nature, and Mt. Orizume, covered with beech forests, is one of the largest habitats for fireflies in Japan.
