The Jogyodo Hatsukayasai Festival, held on January 20th of the new year, is said to have started about 850 years ago. The ``Ennenmai'' performed in the Jogyo-do hall after the memorial service preserves many dances from the Heian period, such as Karabyoshi, Dengaku, Hanaori, Young Woman, and Old Woman, in their original form. . The Ennen dance is a nationally designated Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property.
