Shizukuishi Town in Iwate Prefecture is a town rich in nature.
In addition to the nationally famous Koiwai Farm, there are many other attractions. One of them is Takinoue Onsen, located 2km upstream from Genbudo Cave, which collapsed in 1999 and was said to be the Oiwaya of Kakkonda.
It is the entrance to two mountain trails to Mt. Eboshi and Mt. Mitsuishi, and is also a secret hot spring in the mountains. There is Torigoe Falls, where rare hot water flows. It is 30m high and you can feel its power. The fresh green leaves in spring are wonderful, but in autumn there are many red leaves that are rarely seen in Tohoku, and the natural contrast of green, yellow, and red on the rocks is stunning.
