My Recommendations for Local Attractions and Must-See Local Tourism Information

Arakawa Plateau
It is a vast plateau on the border between Tono City and Kawai Village, extending gently southward with Mt. Hitotsuishi (1,061m) at its peak. In the lowlands to the north, there is a colony of rhododendrons, which bloom all at once in early summer with pale pink-tinged white flowers. Natural birch and beech forests can also be seen nearby.
Additionally, from the summit of Mt. Hitotsuishi, you can enjoy a 360-degree view of the Pacific Ocean to the east, Mt. Hayachine to the northwest, the Ou Mountains to the southwest, and the mountains of the Kitakami Mountains including Mt. Goyo to the south. In addition, horses and cows graze on the prairie, and you can enjoy the idyllic scenery. In March 2008, it was selected as a national “important cultural landscape.”

Affiliated Organizations, Introduction of Organizations

Takamuro Suikoen is a resting and healing facility that recreates the beautiful nature and nostalgic lifestyle of Tono. It is fully equipped with lodging and dining facilities, and has a “Tron Hot Spring” heated by solar heat and the TRON system. In addition, Suikoen has a vast 62,000 square meter site with a lush garden where you can freely stroll around.
You can also try homemade doburoku “Kappa no Mai” and doburoku soft serve made using the same doburoku.
