A plateau of approximately 3,500 hectares that extends to 40 degrees north latitude, centered on Mt. Appi. The walking path through the secondary beech forest is popular as an easy trekking course. You can see alpine plants, wild vegetables, mushrooms, and a breeding ground for the forest tree frog.

Appi Highland Nakano Ranch

A grassland area with a gap in the middle of a primeval forest of beech and mountain birch. It is surrounded by abundant nature and is the perfect location for picnics. Nakano Farm is covered in natural grass, and in early summer the area is filled with red azaleas (flowering period: early to late June).

Appi plateau secondary beech forest

This is exactly what a green shower is all about. The ``secondary beech forest'' that spreads across the Appi Highlands is a beech forest that has been beautifully regenerated by the power of nature after being felled. The beautiful sunlight filtering through the leaves sways, and the sound of the treetops rustling in the wind tickles my ears. If you follow the trekking course starting from Buna Station, there will be no undergrowth and there will be guide signs every 25 meters, so you won't get lost even in sudden fog.
