Fudai Sluice Gate

It is a water gate with a height of 15.5m and a total length of 205m that reaches the mouth of the Fudai River. This is one of the largest flood gates in the Tohoku region, assuming a 15-meter Meiji tsunami, and it stopped the tsunami that occurred in the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake from flooding into the center of the village. The water gate was completed in 1984 at a total construction cost of 3.56 billion yen. Nearby is a monument honoring Yukitoshi Kazumura, the village chief at the time, who was instrumental in this project, with the inscription ``What happened twice must not happen a third time.'' It is also certified as a geosite of Sanriku Geopark.

Kurosaki Auto Campsite & Kurosaki Campsite

A popular auto campsite and free campsite located in Kurosaki, one of the highlights of Sanriku Fukko National Park. There are three communal kitchens, flush toilets, and toilets for the disabled. The auto campground has 23 sections. The free campsite has a spacious space for 50 campers. A comfortable space with grass and sand in the shade of pine trees. Blacksmith pottery

It is said that it was founded in Kaji-cho, Hanamaki City, and is made using a traditional climbing kiln, and due to the difference in temperature, the pottery has a different texture each time it is fired, making it a simple and elegant pottery.

Kitakami beef is a brand of wagyu beef that Iwate Kitakami is proud of. Kitakami beef grows while absorbing the passion of livestock farmers and the blessings of nature in Iwate, and is popular as one of the highest quality branded cattle in Japan.

Fujiwara Bee Farm

*Relocated and reopened in May 2023. Since opening in 1909, we have exhibited beekeeping products and ecosystem-related products born from a century of honeybee research, and you can listen to explanations of these products and learn more about pollen control of agricultural products and the importance of nature. It is attracting attention as a bee farm. A Japanese honey bee village has been established in a mountainous area about 20 minutes by car from the city, and there is a honey-harvesting farm that has been in existence since the Taisho era along the mountain stream at the Hayachine trailhead.

Traditional craft dolls that were actively made in the Tsukumaushi area during the Edo period. After putting washi paper and Tono soil into a mold and letting it dry naturally, the top layer is layered and colored with pigments extracted from natural materials. The luster achieved through painstaking polishing is the result of a secret handicraft, and is unique to Tsukumagyu dolls.
