Kitakami River Source/Yumiyama Spring
According to literature, in June of the 5th year of Tenki, when Minamoto no Yoriyoshi, father and son Yoshiie marched during the Abe Yoritoki conquest (the War of the Nine Years), they could not bear the suffering of the soldiers and horses in the continuing scorching heat, prayed to Kannon for salvation, and Yoshiie bowed his bow. It is said that when he took a yuzu and stuck it to a rock, a spring gushed forth, and that spring still gushes out today and is the source of the Kitakami River. *Yuzu is the part where the strings are hung at both ends of the bow.
