Sake brewed in Ishidoriya-cho, Hanamaki City, the hometown of Nanbu chief brewers; Edel wine made from grapes in Osako-cho, Hanamaki City blessed with the blessings of Mine Hayachine; and Hie shochu made from barnyard millet from Hanamaki, which boasts the highest production of millet grains in Japan. Narushima Washi

It is said that the production of washi paper began in Towa Town before the first year of Kanbun, and during the feudal period, it was used as official paper for the Nanbu domain. Until just after the end of the war, several houses in the Narushima area were producing washi paper, but with the spread of mass-produced Western paper, the demand for washi declined, and now it is only produced at the Washi Crafts Museum. Narushima washi paper is made by hand, one by one, using mulberry and mitsumata as raw materials, and is well known as Japan's northernmost washi paper.

Sakiori

Saki-ori is a method in which cloth is torn into small pieces and used as weft threads, and cotton warp threads are woven on a loom.The irregular striped pattern of the fabric gives it a rustic feel. As a folk craft that reflects the wisdom of our ancestors who used cloth with care, it has been well-received in various fields, including bags and business card holders.
