This pickled radish is called ``Gakkurazuke'' because of the way it is cut off with a machete. These handmade pickles are painstakingly made by local mothers using Japanese radish grown in Kawai, Miyako City. There are normal types that bring out the flavors of kimchi, shiso plum vinegar, and sukikonbu.
