Birthplace of Nanbu Ushioi Uta

Nanbu Ushioi Uta is a representative folk song of Iwate. During the feudal period, the oxen carrying salt and seafood from the coast to Morioka sang this song while chasing their loaded oxen along the way. A national competition to sing and compete in this Nanbu Ushioi Uta is held every year on the last Saturday and Sunday of September.
