A Western painter from Towa-cho, Hanamaki City. Graduated from Tokyo School of Fine Arts. He was one of the first to resonate with Fauvism and Cubism paintings in Japan, and was active from the late Meiji period to the Taisho period to the early Showa period, publishing completed works such as ``Nude Beauty'' and ``Leaning Man,'' and was a pioneer of modern Japanese painting.
