    The museum collects, preserves, and exhibits archaeological materials, documents, and folklore materials, including items excavated from the Odaino Ruins, one of Japan's oldest and largest Paleolithic (18,500 years old) residential ruins. Materials that characterize the town, which has long prospered as a mining town and hot spring town, are also on display.
