Nyoirinji Temple

Kitakami Zazengusa no Sato

On the east side of Inaba Shrine in the Fujine district of Waga Town, Kitakami City, there is a colony of zazen grass that has been cherished by local residents. A wooden path has been installed so that visitors can safely tour the area. The "Zazenkiso Festival" is held in mid-March and is lively with local entertainment and direct sales of local products.

Kunimiyama Abandoned Temple Ruins

The ruins of an ancient mountain temple that flourished about 1,200 years ago. The ``bronze dragon head'' and the foundation stones of the hall convey the image of the time when it was at its peak.

Tachibana Bishamondo

A group of Buddhist statues from the Heian period are enshrined there that tell the story of the Kunimiyama culture of ancient Buddhism. Among them, the ``Wooden Standing Statue of Bishamonten'' and ``Wooden Standing Statue of Nitennou'' have been designated as National Important Cultural Properties.
