Snow Peak Rikuzentakata Campfield

Rikuzentakata Auto Campsite Mobilia, which had been closed since the Great East Japan Earthquake, reopened in September 2020 as Iwate Prefecture's first directly managed camp field and store, Snow Peak Rikuzentakata Camp Field. This is a spacious campsite surrounded by nature where you can enjoy views of the sea and mountains.

Old roadside station “Takada Matsubara” Tapic 45

Tapic 45, a white building with a beautiful pine forest in the background, was an information center for Rikuzentakata City, but it was damaged by the tsunami of the Great East Japan Earthquake. The building has been preserved as an earthquake relic to pass on the horror of the tsunami to future generations.

Fumonji Temple

It is said to have been founded by Osho Kigai, the son of the monk Eisai of Kenninji Temple in Kyoto, and there is a garden with a three-storied pagoda, a large Buddha statue, and a statue of the Nio, as well as a row of giant cedar trees, and azaleas bloom profusely in early summer. The three-storied pagoda in the garden (a prefectural cultural property) is a wooden building with a copper plate roof that was built in 1809.
