Shiwa Rose Garden

A 3-minute drive from Roadside Station Shiwa, this rose garden is located on a hill overlooking the majestic Mt. Iwate to the north and the vineyards and countryside of the Akazawa area to the south. We have planted over 1,500 fragrant roses of about 610 species, which are rare even in Japan. The rose festival, which is held twice a year (early June to mid-July and early September to late October), is visited by many people from inside and outside the prefecture every day. Enjoy an elegant moment surrounded by the scent of roses in a special space with an exotic atmosphere reminiscent of southern France. Goronuma

Goronuma, located to the south of the ruins of Hizumekan, which was built by Toshihira Hizume, the grandson of Kiyohira, the first generation of the Fujiwara clan in Hiraizumi, entertains visitors with cherry blossoms in the spring and swans in the winter. In July, the ancient lotus (Chusonji lotus), which was revived from seeds found in Yasuhiro's head bucket at Chusonji, blooms beautifully in the lotus pond next to the parking lot. On the east bank, there is a stone monument called the Night Cry Stone, which is said to have the sound of the cries of a woman who was turned into a human pillar to stop the repeated collapse of the swamp embankment.

Nomura Kodo

A novelist and music critic from Shiwa Town. His real name is Choichi Nomura. After leaving the law department of Tokyo Imperial University, he joined the Hochi Shimbun Company. Active as a writer since 1930. He is also a leading researcher of senryu and ukiyo-e. He has published more than ten music reviews under the pen name "Ara Ebisu". In 1963, he established the Nomura Gakugei Foundation with 100 million yen of his own personal funds, which contributed to scholarship funds and research grants. Author of the novel ``Zenigata Heiji Torimonoche.''
