Onikoshi Sozen Shrine

In 1597, a horse in Sawauchi village became unruly while playing in the field, ran all the way to Takizawa, and died. The villagers buried him with care and built a shrine. This is said to be the beginning of Sozen Shrine, and since then, people have taken time off from work to decorate their horses and worship at this shrine on May 5th, Boy's Festival. This is the birthplace of Chagu Chagu Umako, which has been held on June 15 of the new calendar since 1968, and on the second Saturday of June since 2001.

Mt. Iwate (Takizawa City)

Mt. Iwate, known as "Nanbu Katafuji", has an altitude of 2,038 meters. Mt. Iwate, which is loved by mountain climbing enthusiasts from both within and outside of the prefecture, is home to many alpine plants such as dicentra, chinguruma, and violets. Mt. Kurakake

Mt. Kurakake, located at the base of Mt. Iwate and with an altitude of 897m, is a hiking course for families where you can easily enjoy climbing. This is the mountain that Kenji Miyazawa loved, and there is a monument to his poem ``Kurakake no Yuki'' next to the parking lot. Mt. Kurakake has been designated by the government as a scenic spot in Ihatov, and its appearance changes spectacularly with each season: spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Please take a look at the majestic view of Mt. Iwate from the summit.
