Guidance facility at the Isawa Castle ruins, a nationally designated historic site. We provide an easy-to-understand introduction to the ``world of ancient Ezo,'' including the construction of Isawa Castle in 802 and Aterui, using excavated materials and videos. In addition to being used for excavation of ruins, it is also a facility where you can casually learn about ancient history and archeology.

scattered settlement

A village where houses are built far apart in the middle of a rice field or field is called a scattered village. It is said to be the original scenery of the Japanese countryside, and can only be seen in a few places across the country today. There is a nostalgic landscape reminiscent of ``My Neighbor Totoro.'' Access: After getting off at Mizusawa Station on the JR Tohoku Main Line, you can take a bus on the Iwate Prefecture Kotsu Maru Line or Hirooka Line and look inside.

Minoru Saito

A politician from Mizusawa Ward, Oshu City. He joined the Navy and was promoted to admiral. He served as Minister of the Navy for over eight years from 1901. In 1930, he became Prime Minister in place of Tsuyoshi Inukai, who was killed in the May 15 Incident. He became Minister of the Interior in 1933, but due to the rise of fascism, he was killed in the February 26 Incident the following year.
