    Murone Shrine is located at the 8th station of Mt. Murone, and is dedicated to two shrines: ``Hongu'' and ``Shingu.'' Approximately 1,290 years ago, a branch spirit was enshrined at Kishu Kumano Taisha Shrine in Wakayama Prefecture by Azuma Ono as a place of prayer for the Ezo subjugation, and since then it has been revered as the guardian of the communities around Mt. Murone, and it is said that Sakanoue no Tamuramaro and Minamoto no Yoshitsune have also prayed here. It has been. At the Murone Shrine Special Festival, mikoshi from two shrines compete to be the first to arrive and run down Mt. Murone. There are also 33 Kannon statues enshrined on the grounds.

    25 Bodhisattva Hall

    This statue of Amida Nyorai and the 25 Bodhisattvas that follow him are designated as Iwate Prefecture's tangible cultural properties. It is said that Seisei-in Temple in Kyoto is the only place where 25 Bodhisattva statues are carved, and the Bodhisattva statues, which have beautiful chisel marks, are said to be national treasures if they had heads.

    Shounji Temple

    This is the family temple of the Tamura family, which was moved from Iwanuma to Ichinoseki in the 2nd year of the Tenna era. There is also a Tamura Memorial Hall exhibiting materials related to the Tamura family. There is a collection of Buddhist scriptures, a mausoleum for Hoshoin, the mother of Date Hyōbu Munekatsu, and in a quiet area, there are graves of generations of the Tamura family. There are also monuments in the precincts commemorating Wasan master Yushichi Tanehide Chiba and Western medicine scholar Seian Takebe.
