Nagai’s Dainenbutsu sword dance

Nagai's Dai-Nenbutsu Kembu, which has been passed down in the Nagai district of Morioka City for about 220 years, is a type of ``Kuyo-Nenbutsu'' to commemorate one's ancestors, and is performed by wearing an ``Ogasa'' with a pagoda placed in the center of a large circular platform on their head. It is characterized by ``Kasaburi,'' which is a dance performed by shaking it loudly. In 1981, it was designated as a nationally designated important intangible folk cultural property. Kiyoshi Goko

A businessman from Mizusawa Ward, Oshu City. He became president of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in 1942, but in the same year he was selected as a cabinet advisor to the Hideki Tojo cabinet, and became chairman the following year. After the war, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries was manufacturing wartime weapons, and Goko, as president at the time, was working hard to increase production, but he was forced to be detained as a suspected war criminal. After being released from prison, he was punished by being expelled from public office, but when the charges were cleared and the punishment was lifted, he returned to the business world. He held various positions in the industry and contributed to the postwar economic recovery.

Iwate Prefectural Museum

This museum is located on a hill on the shores of Shijushida Dam, overlooking Mt. Iwate and Mt. Himekami. The museum exhibits a large-scale reconstructed full-body skeleton of the large dinosaur fossil Mamenkysaurus, as well as numerous materials on fossils, rocks, archaeology, history, folklore, flora and fauna, and more.
