Sugawa campground

Sugawa Plateau, which spreads out at the northern foot of Mt. Kurikoma, is connected to the city by National Route 342 and is a base for mountain climbing and hiking. The campsite at an altitude of 1,120m costs 100 yen per person per day (200 yen for one night stay). Please prepare your own tent and fuel. There is a hot spring nearby.

Ainosawa Campsite

Ainosawa Campsite, located at the foot of Mt. Kurakake and just below Mt. Iwate, is a comfortable campsite with parking and water facilities. You can also enjoy stargazing in the clear nature.

Hometown experience workshop

Adjacent to the roadside station Iwaizumi, you can experience making local specialties such as pottery, dried flowers, handmade sausages, vegetable dyeing, hand-spun wool, ice cream, and leather crafts.

Umakko Park Iwate

In addition to horseback riding lessons with regular horses, we offer extracurricular classes for infants and elementary school students where you can experience horseback riding while taking care of horses, and we also travel to various events and schools with ponies. You can also go horse trekking through the neighboring forest park. The park has a grassy field and playground equipment, so you can enjoy just taking a walk.

Iwate Prefectural Kenkoku Youth House

A recreation and training facility located in a forest rich in nature. There is also a campsite on the premises, with tent sites equipped with cooking facilities, toilets, fire circles, AC power, and other facilities. A skating rink is also available during the winter.

Iwate Prefectural Children’s Center “Iwate Children’s Forest”

Surrounded by a beautiful beech forest in Okunakayama, Ichinohe Town, Iwate Children's Forest is an experiential children's center that fosters surprises and encounters that children experience through a variety of games. The 30-hectare grounds include indoor facilities such as the conical "Hello House" and "Go Go House," as well as an all-weather campfire field and outdoor facilities, so both children and adults can relax and enjoy themselves. It can also be used for accommodation, meetings, training, etc.

Homespun Michinoku Akanekai

You can see the homespun process, which is all done by hand, from dyeing to weaving, and a series of panels introduce the manufacturing process. Homespun, which was popularized in Iwate by British missionaries at the beginning of the Meiji period, is a woolen fabric made from dyed wool and woven from hand-spun thread. While mass production is often done by machines, Michinoku Akane-kai is particular about creating original handmade products, in which each warp and weft of spun wool is woven by hand.

Taimagura Bungalow Village

You can enjoy nature to the fullest in the heart of the quasi-national park Hayachine Mountain. With the cool breeze blowing through the trees, it is ideal for families and groups to relax, as well as for training camps and training.

Urumi crafts

The tools used to make lacquerware, such as the lacquer bucket that collects lacquer sap, the feather that removes dust, the tools used for decoration, and the brush that applies lacquer, are on display, as well as the process of making a teapot stand. The master who has been in this business for over 40 years is a traditional craftsman of Joboji lacquerware, which is designated as a national traditional craft. Lacquerware made from natural materials has a pleasant texture. You can taste the real goodness.

You can see the process of making delicious local sake, which is unique to Morioka, a city with clean water, and learn about sake making. A guide will be available for tours of the facility, including the brewery (Showa Asahigura), product factory, and local sake product center.

Ono dyeing place

On the second floor of the store, old paper patterns from the feudal period, restored panels of the patterns, materials and materials for indigo dyeing are on display, and you can listen to tape-based explanations of the process. Nanbu ancient stencil dyeing began during the Kan'ei era, when Ebisuya Sanemon, who was invited from Kyoto as the official dyer for the Nanbu family, used stencils to dye family crests and patterns on kimonos and armor. There are over 300 types of paper patterns that have been passed down from generation to generation.

Workshop Yume Mayu * Flower

Mayu Craft creates seasonal items by beautifully dyeing cocoon balls. There is a panel display of materials related to sericulture in Iwate. In addition to displaying materials about Iwate's sericulture on panels, you can also see prize-winning works from national cocoon craft contests, bouquets, wreaths, hina dolls, and other works that take advantage of cocoon's characteristics. At the trial class, you can easily experience the fun of eyebrow crafting.
