In February 1985, Miyako City established salmon as the city's official fish, and in January 1986, the city made the ``Salmon Land Declaration'' with the aim of creating a prosperous town symbolized by salmon. Based on this background, elementary and junior high school students, children at nursery schools and kindergartens, and citizens are conducting a stocking of young salmon.
