Morioka is said to be a thriving theater town. The Morioka Writers' Drama is the only writer's play in Japan, and features local writers and broadcast station announcers who take on the challenge of performing dialect plays. It's becoming more and more popular every year, and tickets sell out as soon as they go on sale.
