Hayachine Kagura dance performance Take Kagura

Hanamaki City

Southern Iwate

Hayachine Kagura, which was registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in October 2009, is a dance performed in the Taisho area, where it was passed down by Shugenbushi who made Mt. Hayachine a sacred place and has been dancing in the area for over 600 years. It is a general term for the ``Daai-en Kagura'' that has been passed down and the ``Dake Kagura'' that has been passed down in the Take area. In contrast to Daisaku Kagura, which is characterized by an elegant dance in seven beats, Take Kagura, which is characterized by a brave dance in five beats, is also called Brother Kagura and is performed mainly at the Hayachine Festival. Until the early Showa period, there was a custom called ``Mawari Kagura'' and ``Tori Kagura,'' in which people visited each village and danced.
