Men wearing only an undergarment gather to enliven the festival with water purification, Shibatoki (hittaki) climbing, and a battle for the suminbukuro (bag twisting). Children participate in the procession carrying devil's masks on their backs, and worshippers take home the komagi from inside the sommin bag as amulets. The public is served vegetarian food. The "Ofudo-san's Kenchin Jiru" is especially popular and is enjoyed by all every year.
