My recommended “local attractions” and “local recommended tourist information”
The northern part of Iwate Prefecture is full of wonderful nature, and the view from the top of Mt. Hachimantai is one of my favorite spots, where you can feel the seasons with your whole body.
The Appi Plateau, which spreads out at the foot of Mt. Maemori and Mt. Nishimori that extend from Hachimantai National Park, is surrounded by gentle mountains with an altitude of 1,300 to 1,500 meters, and the beech forests and green grasslands have a gentle appearance. Facilities such as Appi Kogen Ski Resort, which has one of the most expansive ski slopes in Japan, as well as a golf course, tennis club, and a ranch, are arranged to blend in with this magnificent nature. In addition, the base area, which aims to create a beautiful landscape, is lined with hotels, pension villages, and guesthouses, creating a truly relaxing stay resort.
One of the largest ski slopes in Japan, with a total length of 45.1 km and 12 over 2 km long courses, it is like a mountain resort overseas. Gondolas and high-speed lifts access the entire mountain between the vast courses. It’s truly endless.
In March 2007, we entered into a business partnership with South Korea’s High1 Ski Resort.
I was born and raised in Morioka, and I love Iwate. I hope to be able to help liven up my beloved Iwate.
