When it comes to hot springs in Iwate Prefecture, the inland Hanamaki Onsen and the hot springs around Mt. Iwate are well-known, but in Kuji City, where I live, there is a new hot spring in the Northern Rias that is currently becoming a hot topic among travelers. There is Yamane Onsen “Beppin no Yu”.
What is “Beppin”? In 1991, Hisaya Morishige visited Yamane when he stopped at Kuji while sailing around Japan on his yacht. Mr. Morishige was deeply moved by the simple humanity of this mountain village, and praised Yamane as “Beppin Village.” This led to the name Beppin no Yu.
Boasting the highest pH value of 10.5 in Iwate Prefecture, as well as in the Tohoku region, it is rich in radon content and is an alkaline simple sulfur cold mineral spring that is known for its smooth and smooth beauty. Effective for diabetes, neuralgia, and chronic skin diseases. This is a hot spring that is particularly expected to have a “beppin” effect.
There are even some secret fans, and I always go to Beppin no Yu on my days off.
