Hyuuzu has long been eaten as a snack in this region, and is made by wrapping sugar miso or brown sugar in dough made from rice flour. The name Hanahyuzu comes from the fact that the folded edges of the fabric resemble flower petals. The belly band is handmade by a grandmother, and the secret ingredient is gentleness and warmth. There are also plum daifuku and chestnut manju.
