Taiyaki

Taiyaki is a type of pottery that was created in the middle of the Meiji era on a stand in Hanamaki Onsen.The pottery was obtained from Mt. Manju, a hot spring area, and was perfected by painstaking efforts to create a product with elegance that would withstand the cold climate of the country. . Currently, the designs have shifted from white porcelain to folk art designs, but the works are diverse and highly acclaimed as local masterpieces.

Hidehira lacquer

The fixtures used at Chuson-ji Temple and Motsu-ji Temple in Hiraizumi were handed down to the folk, and they are also made in Hanamaki. The lacquer from the southern region is of the highest quality in the world and is used in high-quality lacquerware. Also, as the birthplace of Kenji Miyazawa, lacquerware related to Kenji's works are also made.

Naruko Kokeshi doll

A pupil of Naruko's Matsusaburo Ito, he learned woodturning under his father Sueyoshi, inherited the Naruko style from 1945, and has been producing since 1945.
