The local cuisine, ``Hitsumi Set Meal,'' has a soup stock made from young local chicken that gives it even more depth. Outside, we grill ``kushimochi'' every day. Mochi made from wheat flour is an important local snack, and is a masterpiece of Kita-Iwate's Konamon culture. The roadside station also has a wide selection of Kunohe village specialties such as sweet tea and mountain fruit juice.

``Nanbu Kakke'' is a local dish that has been passed down from ancient times in the village of Kunohe in the southern part of Iwate, a soba restaurant. It is said that it originates from the scraps left when making soba noodles, and it is said to have been passed down to this day in a food culture that cherished the scraps of soba noodles.
