The former Ashiro town was blessed with high-quality lacquer and logs, and was widely known as ``Arasawa lacquerware'' since the feudal period. After the war, production slowed down due to the rise of plastic lacquerware, but Ashiro Shikki Kobo inherited this tradition and continues to create easy-to-use lacquerware under the new name ``Appi-nuri.'' It is made with plenty of domestic lacquer, and is coated over 10 times from the base to the top coat, making it attractive for its vivid color and the deeper flavor that develops the more you use it.
