Iwate Town, which boasts the largest shipment of blueberries for processing in Iwate Prefecture, has opened five blueberry farms for sightseeing in the town, where visitors can actually experience picking blueberries. Blueberries have recently been attracting attention as a functional food for the eyes because of the large amount of anthocyanin pigment they contain. They also contain high amounts of flavonoid polyphenols, dietary fiber, vitamin C, iron, and calcium.
