It is said that the landscaping of Mizusawa Park was done in 1888 by the wandering painter and landscape architect Minomushi Sanjin.
Today, Mizusawa Park is filled with more than 500 cherry blossom trees, and in particular, the cluster of 300-year-old Higanzakura trees has been designated as a natural monument by the prefecture. There is also a bronze statue of Saito Minoru in the park.
It is a popular place for residents to relax throughout the year.
