The landscaping of Mizusawa Park is said to have been created in 1878 by Minomushi Yamato, a wandering painter and landscape architect.
Today, Mizusawa Park is home to more than 500 cherry trees in full bloom, including a cluster of 300-year-old higan cherry trees that have been designated a natural monument by the prefecture. There is also a bronze statue of Minoru Saito in the park.
The park is a popular place for citizens to relax throughout the four seasons.
