Iwate Town

Central Iwate

The Tendai sect Kitakamiyama Shintsupoji Shogaku-in, which is commonly called Mido Kannon, is said to have been built in June 2016 as a place of prayer by General Sakanoue Tamuramaro, and was opened by Ryokei, a monk from his family. It has been reported. When the hall was destroyed by fire in 1758, it is written on the ridge plate that Toshio, the lord of the Nanbu domain at the time, restored it in 1758. The current hall was burnt down in 1962 and rebuilt in 1961. The Senju Kannon statue in the main hall was donated to this hospital as a guardian deity when the Nambu clan made this area their territory, and it remains there today. There is also the source of the Kitakami River (Yuhazu no Izumi) within the grounds.
