Hachimantai Aspite Line

"Aspite" is the name given to a volcano that is shaped like an inverted shield. A driveway with a total length of approximately 27km that straddles both Iwate and Akita prefectures and traverses Hachimantai. Mt. Iwate can be seen to the south from the road that weaves around the side of Mt. Chausu, and the blue lakes and withered fir trees in the forest create a landscape unique to Hachimantai. In mid-April, the winter traffic ban on the Hachimantai Aspite Line is lifted, and several meters of snow still remains on both sides of the road, creating a ``snow corridor.'' Passable period from mid-April to early November. However, the road may be closed when there is a danger of freezing. This is a facility where you can get up close and personal with wood to help you understand the importance of the role and function of forests in nature.It is a facility that can be enjoyed by both children and adults through videos, various exhibits, and animations. All of the building's structural and interior materials, as well as furniture such as chairs, are made from local materials such as larch and Japanese red pine. A facility where you can experience the beauty and beauty of wood, with a focus on locally produced wood for local consumption.

Akiko Ema’s poetry monument

Akiko Ema, famous for writing the lyrics for ``Summer Memories'' and ``Hana no Machi,'' lived in Hiratate Village (currently Hiratate District, Hachimantai City) when she was a child, and had a great influence on her own works.
