Hanamaki City Museum
During the Edo period, Hanamaki Castle was located in Hanamaki City as the southern fortress of the Morioka domain, and the castle lord Kita Shosai laid the foundations for the town that continues to this day. It collects materials related to the history and culture of the Hanamaki region, including Hienuki and Waga, and divides them into three categories: ``archaeology,'' ``history,'' and ``arts and crafts,'' and visually displays and explains them in an easy-to-understand manner. We also hold various lectures and experiential learning sessions, aiming to be a participatory museum where you can learn while having fun. The Hanamaki region has produced many of our predecessors, including Kenji Miyazawa. It conveys the local climate and lifestyle that fostered their unique sensibilities and ideas.
