Hiraizumi Rest House

A resting place in front of the gate of Chusonji Temple in Hiraizumi. The restaurant on the second floor, "Restaurant Gen," is certified as an Iwate local production and local consumption restaurant. At this restaurant, you can enjoy locally sourced menus such as mochi dishes and Maezawa beef menus while looking out over Chusonji Tsukimizaka. The restaurant on the 1st floor, "Food Court Mon," is a family-friendly restaurant that offers a variety of menus, including ramen restaurant set meals, with a focus on the local cuisine and Hiraizumi specialty, "Benkei Chikaramochi Set (5 mochi dishes)." There is also a large shopping corner stocked with many souvenirs from Iwate and Tohoku, a group restaurant that can accommodate up to 1,200 people, and a large parking lot that can accommodate 100 cars and 30 large buses. There is a ``Hiraizumi Cultural History Museum'' within the facility that introduces Hiraizumi culture.

Hiraizumi [World Heritage Site]

On June 29, 2011, Hiraizumi was registered as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site as "Hiraizumi - Architecture, Gardens and Archaeological Heritage Group Representing the Buddhist Pure Land. Hiraizumi is a splendid group of golden cultural heritage sites, including Buddhist temples and Pure Land gardens, which developed uniquely during the last 100 years of the Heian period (794-1185) while accepting the culture of the capital. The five registered properties, Chuson-ji, Motsu-ji, Kanjizaio-in Ato, Muryokoin Ato, and Mount Kinkeisan, are the first cultural heritage sites in Tohoku to be registered as World Heritage sites.

Hiraizumi Cultural Heritage Center

On April 14, 2009, Hiraizumi Town integrated the Hiraizumi Local Museum and the Town Cultural Heritage Center to open the Hiraizumi Cultural Heritage Center. As a guidance facility that provides an easy-to-understand introduction to Hiraizumi's cultural heritage, and as a visitor center for sightseeing in the town, it introduces a wide range of Hiraizumi's history and culture.
