Morioka City Ruins Learning Center

A facility where research materials such as earthenware, stone tools, and ceramics excavated from ruins in Morioka City are stored, exhibited, and made available to the public. A site station that shows the distribution of the city's ruins, Ruins Discovery, which recreates the excavation site of Odate town ruins from the middle of the Jomon period (approximately 5,000 to 4,000 years ago) and includes restored dwellings. The site is mainly open to the public, including the ruins library, which displays approximately 800 excavated materials from the Jomon period to the medieval and early modern periods. There is also a special exhibition room (once or twice a year), an experiential learning room (earthenware/stoneware making, magatama making, etc.), a training room (lectures, citizen lectures, etc.), and a library. You can also tour the storage and exhibition room where many excavated artifacts are stored, and the data collection room with advance reservation.
