Fuji of Fujishima

Ichinohe Town

Northern Iwate

A huge Nodafuji tree with beautiful branches is located in Kotoridani in the town.
The tree is said to be several hundred years old, and in 1932, when it was designated as a natural monument, it had a root circumference of 3.3 meters.
It used to get tangled in the branches of a neighboring wig, but that branch has died, so it is now supported by a steel-framed wig.
Because it is an old tree, the main trunk has become thinner than before, but new branches have grown, and when the flowering season comes, the smoldering purple flower clusters droop, creating a magical appearance.
