Located within the grounds of Hachiman Shrine, the Daio cedar tree, which measures 11.6 meters in circumference, 4.5 meters in diameter, and approximately 25 meters in height, is estimated to be over 7,000 years old and is a living witness to the establishment and history of the Ekiki area. It is carefully protected as a symbol of the district.

Imadeyama

Mount Imade, towering over the urban area of Ofunato City, is 756 meters above sea level. The view overlooking Ofunato Bay and the city area, as well as the Pacific Ocean and the Karakuwa Peninsula is spectacular. When the azaleas bloom, the area around the mountaintop is dyed bright red, and when you look up from the national highway, it looks as if the mountain is on fire. Once you reach the top of the mountain, you can take a walk through a large colony of blooming azaleas. From the top of the mountain, you can see the azaleas in full bloom, the city below, and even the blue ocean. [Blooming period] Late May to early June

Ofunato houseboat “Shiosai”
