    This museum is located on a hill on the shores of Shijushida Dam, overlooking Mt. Iwate and Mt. Himekami. The museum exhibits a large-scale reconstructed full-body skeleton of the large dinosaur fossil Mamenkysaurus, as well as numerous materials on fossils, rocks, archaeology, history, folklore, flora and fauna, and more. There are botanical gardens and rock gardens outdoors, and among them, the ``Former Sasaki Family Residence (Magariya)'' and ``Former Fujino Family Residence (Naoya),'' which were relocated from Iwaizumi Town and Esashi Ward, Oshu City in 1980, are It has also been designated as a national important cultural property.

    During the feudal period, there were markets all over Morioka Castle. Much of it has been lost to the times, but Morioka still has a simple and humane market. The Mikoda morning market, which has been popular as the citizens' kitchen for many years, is the largest cooperative type market in Japan. If you turn down an alley in a complicated residential area at 5 a.m., you'll find vegetables, wild plants, fresh flowers, fruits, pickles, and more lined up on mats spread out by farmers.     upper bridge fake jewel

    The bridge above was built by Toshinao, the lord of the Nanbu domain, over the Nakatsugawa River at the same time as he built Morioka Castle. Of the bronze imitation jewels decorating the railing, eight have inscriptions dated to 1609 (Keicho 14), and 10 have inscriptions dated to 1611 (1611). It is extremely rare that so many remain, and in 1945 it was designated as a nationally important art object.
