The Morioka Theater was built in 1912, just two years after the Tokyo National Theater, as a result of citizens' efforts to relax. After that, it disappeared with the passage of time, but in 1990, it was brought back to life in the same place due to the enthusiasm of the citizens. Literary drama was also revived at the same time. It is now the only theater in Japan that performs literary plays.
