Morioka History and Culture Museum

The building, which had been used as the Iwate Prefectural Library, was completely renovated and opened in 2011 in a corner of Morioka Castle Ruins Park (Iwate Park). The first floor introduces Morioka's festivals (Chagu Chagu Umako, Morioka Sansa Odori, Morioka Autumn Festival floats) and seasonal tourist information, while the second floor displays the history of the Morioka clan and the treasures of the Nanbu family. There is also a cafe (rest area ``Fukikata''). Please stop by to experience the history and culture of the castle town of Morioka and enjoy walking around the town.

Torakuji Temple wooden eleven-faced Kannon statue

Nine Heian Buddha statues, including the eleven-faced Kannon statue, which were enshrined at the foot of Mt. Himegami, are preserved at Torakuji Temple. It has been designated as an Iwate Prefectural Cultural Property, and is said to be one of the best Buddhist statues in the Tohoku region as an eleven-faced Kannon statue.

Goza nine

Gozaku, which still retains the image of a wealthy merchant, was a merchant house that sold lanterns for lanterns and straw crafts from the late Edo period to the Meiji period. The buildings, which have castle walls, tiles, and low eaves with lattice doors, have been built one after another, and you can get a glimpse of each era.
