This course is a nature trail with a total length of 8.9 km from Kawahara Shinden in Iwate Town to Numamiyachi Inari Shrine. The area around Mt. Kobo, which is climbed from the starting point of Kawahara Shinden, has beautiful autumn leaves and is called the ``Arashiyama of the Oku'' because the scenery resembles Arashiyama in Kyoto. As you cross the Tohoku Main Line and proceed east, you will find yourself walking through a coniferous forest. Near the end of the trail, there are historical sites such as the Numamiyachi Magistrate's Office Ruins and the Numamiyachi Castle Ruins, and the walking course takes approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes. Best time to see autumn leaves: Late September to mid-October

Iwate Town Sculpture Park

The Iwate Town International Stone Sculpture Symposium, which began in 1971, has been enriched with each successive event, and the works produced there are placed mainly in the Iwate Town Sculpture Park, bringing joy to the hearts of visitors. Every year, several artists, including some from overseas, create works for the public from mid-July to mid-August, mainly using black granite from the town. Please feel the deep color of black granite and the energy of this piece, which shows various expressions depending on the time.

Roadside station “Ishigami no Oka”

In addition to providing services such as restrooms, breaks, disaster prevention, and road information, the facility also sells seasonal wild vegetables, fresh local vegetables, handmade dumplings, and side dishes made with local vegetables. The town's specialty "blueberry sauce" is popular. It is also adjacent to the Ishigami-oka Museum of Art, an outdoor sculpture museum, and in early summer, about 20,000 lavender plants decorate the hill.

Keiko Sonoi statue

Real name: Tomi Hakamada. Born in Matsuo Village, Iwate District (currently Hachimantai City), he spent his childhood in Iwate Town. She grew up dreaming of performing in Takarazuka Girls' Opera, and finally realized that dream. Although he gained national fame through the movie ``The Life of Muhomatsu,'' he lost his life when he encountered the atomic bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima. The Keiko Sonoi statue is located on the premises of the Iwate Town Working Women's House. This facility also has a reference room for Keiko Sonoda.
