There are seven springs in Matsuo Yosegi, Hachimantai City, and they are also known as the ``Zato Shimizu Spring Group'' and many legends have been told about them. One such story is that the seven-headed dragon that lived at the waterfall in Mt. Iwate burrowed underground and emerged from the mountain village at the source of the spring. It has been designated as one of the 100 best waters by the Environment Agency.
