Morioka Castle Ruins Park (Iwate Park)

The historic site of Morioka Castle, which was the residence of the lord of the Nanbu domain. Morioka Castle was completed in 1633, during the reign of the 28th feudal lord, Shigenao. It was a flat castle that used the Kitakami River, Shizukuishi River, and Nakatsu River as natural trenches, and was also called Fukugata Castle. Today, the stone walls and pond remain, and the park is loved by citizens throughout the year as Morioka Castle Ruins Park. Various trees and flowers decorate the four seasons, including cherry blossoms in the spring, colored leaves in the fall, and a plum grove.

Ishikawa Takuboku Memorial Museum

The museum was opened in 1970 to honor Takuboku, collect materials, preserve them, and provide information.The current building was constructed in 1986 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Takuboku's birth. The white Western-style building is a reproduction of the ideal "home" that Takuboku described in his poem "House." Following the footsteps of Takuboku, who started in his hometown of Shibumin and then moved to Morioka, Hokkaido, and Tokyo, many personal belongings and related materials such as Takuboku's handwritten notes, letters, photographs, and clothing are on display. *Photography is prohibited

Kenji Miyazawa poem monument (lower bridge)

In 1999, a monument commemorating Kenji Miyazawa's poem ``Chagu Chagu Umako'' was erected near the bridge below where he was lodging with his younger brother when he was in his third year at the High School of Agriculture and Forestry. There are four songs, including the following: ``Even though it's still a little while before dawn, the bottom edge of the river is still open.'' It was around this time that Kenji began to devote himself seriously to literature, and the ten years he spent in Morioka from the age of 13 to the age of 24 (the end of his high school agricultural research studentship) became the foundation for his subsequent activities.
