Gyozan-ryu Spring Deer Dance (city-designated intangible folk cultural property)

The head with deer antlers and the long sasara carried on the back are impressive, and in Miyagi Prefecture, it is also called the ``Yakka Odori'' because it is performed in groups of eight. There are various traditions regarding its origin and transmission route, and it is divided into Gyozan-ryu, Kanazu-ryu, Kasuga-ryu, etc. The spring water is called the Gyuzan school, which is descended from the Hisada Shika dance in the Esashi area of ​​Oshu city. According to tradition, Shikaodori began in the Shiroishi/Yusui area in 1866. *Performances may be held at any time upon request, such as festivals at nearby shrines such as Komagata Shrine, and performing arts competitions.

Mataichi Falls and Fudo Falls

Mataichi Falls, located halfway up Mt. Yakushi, is a waterfall 20 meters high and 5 meters wide, and above it is a long, flat river bed made up of a huge monolith. In addition, there is a waterfall of Fudo at the bottom of Yakushido, which is upstream. At the base of Fudo Falls, there is a stone that is said to have been placed by Jikaku Daishi to resemble the Fudo Sanzon. 40 minutes by car or 20 minutes on foot from JR Kamaishi Line Tono Station

It is said that it was introduced from the Shimohei region around the middle of the Meiji era and began to be danced as a Bon Odori dance.It is a dance that requires skill with its simple but sharp movements, and has been passed down as a dance with an improvisational nature and bright folk song style.
