Shiba Castle Ancient Park

The ancient castle fence at the northernmost tip of Mutsu Province. The appearance of the castle when it was built about 1,200 years ago on the south side of the Shiba Castle ruins has been restored, and the south gate in the center is 15 meters long, 6 meters deep, and 11.1 meters high, making it the second largest gate after the Heijo Palace Suzaku Gate. gate. Each side is surrounded by a 126-meter-long wall made of hardened earth, and a tower is built on top of the wall.

Himegamiyama

Mount Himegami, which stands opposite Mt. Iwate, is 1123.8m above sea level. The beautiful triangular shape of the mountain with its gentle slopes catches the eye. A mountain opening event will be held on the third Sunday of May at a famous spot for lily of the valley. The most popular way to climb the mountain is the Ipponsugi Course, which weaves through a white birch forest while admiring the alpine plants.It takes about an hour and a half to reach the top. The view is outstanding, and you can see the skyline of Mt. Iwate, Mt. Hayachine, and the mountains bordering Akita Prefecture.

Morioka Tegamikan

This is a unique facility in Japan that stores, researches, and exhibits manuscripts, diaries, etc., mainly letters of our ancestors. A large number of valuable materials such as letters, manuscripts, diaries, notebooks, calligraphy and ink of famous people connected to Morioka such as Takuboku Ishikawa, Mitsumasa Yonai, Inazo Nitobe, and Shinpei Goto are on display. We also hold special exhibitions and theme exhibitions.
